Velocita Wireless is ideally suited to address Advanced Metering Infrastructure as part of many utility Smart Grid initiatives. With long network longevity, great point to point communications, low latency and vast coverage, Velocita's network can either be the best solution, complement existing network solutions, or be part of an evolving hybrid network solution. So how does Velocita address AMI with respect to other providers:
- Mesh - or Zigbee based networks, works ideally for close proximity, simple terrain solutions. When you reach ex-urban and even many suburban areas, the proximity and communications channels of Zigbee are challenged.
- Direct to Meter communications is ideally suited to Velocita's network
- Concentrator Backhaul: At some point, mesh concentrators can backhaul directly over Velocita's network. With typical 200:1 ratios and proper communications sequences, Velocita's network has more than enough capacity to deliver reliable communications
- Public Networks just don't have the coverage required by most utilities. Yes, the initial coverage is often greater than most other solutions, the requirement for 100% coverage is difficult.
- Velocita's Customized Buildouts are Velocita's strength. Quick and less expensive than Tier 1 provider build-outs, our TCO as part of a larger communications backbone solution are ideally suited for utilities.
- Velocita's Data Only Network: Our data network, utility-prioritizable network is "katrina-ready". Our network characteristics are ideal for most utilities. Oh, and we don't go struggle when the next new consumer smart-phone device or application is released.
